For some time, we have asked that participants in Wednesday Wheelers rides should carry an “In case of Emergency” (ICE) card. With most of us now carrying a smartphone of some description there is an another, perhaps better, option in the form of “Medical ID” apps. These allow you to record emergency contact details plus, should it be relevant, other information such as any conditions you have which medical staff treating you need to know about, as well as giving you shortcuts to, for example, call emergency services. These details are accessible to first responders, even on a locked phone.
Medical ID is available as an app for Android and as part of the iOS Health app.
