Hagg Bridge closure

Hagg Bridge (SE717452), which is the B1228’s crossing of Pocklington Canal between Sutton on Derwent and Melbourne, is set to be closed from 23rd March for approximately 6 months.  At the time of writing, different accounts conflict over whether or not access on foot across the bridge will be maintained, and I have seen no specific statement on whether any pedestrian access will be 24 hours, or for limited periods. Please email blog@wwyork.org if you can clarify what access is being allowed.

  1. Andrew Richardson has received the following assurance from ERYC:
“The contractors have confirmed they are making allowances for access for pedestrians and cyclists during the entire bridge closure. Appropriate signage will be in place for this. “
